Firefighters have been searching properties between Butlins and Elmer today (Tuesday June 12) to check for any people in distress.
They have a High Volume Pumping Unit from East Sussex Fire & Rescue on the scene at Felpham.
The emergency service anticipates that they may have to repeat the pumping three hours before and three hours after each high tide.
Around 20 people have been evacuated from the beach chalet area and all have been accommodated by family and friends.

River Adur – East Branch - The River Adur and tributaries from Burgess Hill to Henfield.
River Mole - Ifield Brook, Upper River Mole, Burstow Stream and Salfords Stream including Ifield, Lowfield Heath, Charlwood, Hookwood, Bewbush, Furnace Green, Maidenbower, Crawley, Horley, Copthorne and Salfords.
Lower Ouse - Lower Ouse and tributaries from Barcombe Mills to Newhaven Harbour.
Upper Ouse and tributaries from Slaugham to Barcombe Mills.
The Barnham Rife at Barnham.
