Lucy, who is studying a level two barbering diploma, was one of two students from the college competing in Blackpool. Cody Dougan was representing the college in the first year blow dry category.

Both students secured their places at the national final after winning first and third place in their respective disciplines at the regional competition in February.

Lucy said: “It was a great experience and I was thrilled that I got a first place!

“It was very competitive. I’m so glad that I achieved this and that my family and my teachers were happy with the result.”

Julia Williams, Head of Learning for Service Industry (including hair and beauty) at Chichester College, added: “I am very proud of both Lucy and Cody.

“They have both worked extremely hard to get to Blackpool – which was an outstanding achievement in itself.

“This is only the second year that Chichester College has entered this competition, so for Lucy to come first in her category is a fantastic accomplishment.”
