Two fire engines attended Gatwick Airport after an aircraft performed an emergency landing.

Fire crews were called as a safety precaution at about 12.20am today (Friday August 23) after a Monarch aircraft from Spain contacted Gatwick requesting support.

Gatwick Airport said the incident did not affect flights or services. A spokesperson said: “A lot of pilots call in requesting support which is termed as an emergency. This can be for any number of reasons. It did not cause any disruption.”
