Fire crews called to Worthing Greek restaurant

Emergency services were called to the Fat Greek Taverna in Worthing on Tuesday evening following reports of a fire.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service received a call to the restaurant in Portland Road shortly before midnight on Tuesday (November 17).

But a spokesman for the service said it was a false alarm.

Worthing firefighters were called to the scene,” said a spokesman.

“But it was just smoke coming from an oven in the restaurant.

“We were called to the scene at 11.55pm and the stop call came through at midnight.”

Passerby David Sopp said police vehicles were also at the scene but said no-one was injured and no damage was caused.
