Findon racing legend Josh Gifford dies aged 70

RETIRED Findon jump trainer and jockey Josh Gifford died today (Thursday) aged 70 of a heart attack in hospital.

Mr Gifford will be remembered for the victory of Aldaniti along with Bob Champion in the 1981 Grand National.

The four-time champion jockey took over the Findon stables in 1970 and sent out numerous winners.

He retired at the age of 61 in April 2003 and handed over the stables to his son, Nick.

He was in Worthing Hospital in October last year suffering from septicaemia, but rallied enough to return home.

However, his condition got worse this week and he returned to hospital.
