Exchange group enjoy trip to German town

Students from Collyer's participating in the German exchange journeyed to the idyllic town of Lindau, on the Bodensee (Lake Constance) in southern Germany.

The students also had the chance to enjoy excursions to Neuschwanstein, the fairy tale castle from Ludwig the second, Bregenz in Austria to visit the Seebühne (stage on the lake) and a tour of the world famous library at St Gallen, in Switzerland.

Katja Welton, German teacher and trip co-ordinator was delighted: “It was a fantastic educational experience and all of the students appreciated being able to practice their German and learn about such a fascinating culture.”

The group thoroughly enjoyed the visit and during their stay with host families were able to get a valuable insight into the German culture and way of life.

Katja Welton said: “The students all felt this was a very valuable trip as they really enjoyed the educational and cultural opportunities, especially the trips to Neuschwanstein and St Gallen, and the chance to participate in teaching and learning in classes with their exchange partners.

“They have not only enriched their language skills but also built a fabulous bond amongst each other.”

Vice Principal, Steve Nicholls, said: “This is a breathtakingly beautiful part of the world, so certainly a fantastic opportunity not to be missed.

“I’m delighted that the students have thoroughly enjoyed their visit.

“The exchange is an incredibly important part of learning German and Katja has done a superb job co-ordinating the trip. Our students were also a credit to Collyer’s.”

Katja added: “We all thoroughly enjoyed this valuable learning experience whilst making many new friends.

“We are extremely grateful to our kind hosts for their incredible hospitality.”
