A LONG-RUNNING saga around a children’s play area looks to be nearing completion, after £22,713 was recommended to extend the site.
Chichester District Council’s cabinet recommended the release of the funds for the play area at the Tangmere recreation ground.
“I think this is really needed, and I hope everybody can support it,” said Cllr Eileen Lintill, cabinet member for leisure, wellbeing and community services.
A playground was originally going to be built within the Blenheim Park development, but because of criteria changes the developers were given permission not to build it, and instead provided £45,400 to enhance an area outside the development.
Proposals for the play area include two sets of swings, a play table, new fencing and rubber safe-surfacing.
