The mystery began with a giant nest of eggs, uncovered by the reception children at Thomas A’Becket Infant School.

Last week, the eggs hatched and the only sign of the creatures was a set of dinosaur footprints left by the empty shells.

Then, on Monday, strange roaring noises were heard echoing around the school grounds and a large dinosaur was spotted lurking at the entrance, in Pelham Road.

Sarah Wheal the Forest School co-ordinator at Thomas A’Becket, made the enormous creation using wood and string.

She and the reception teachers said the unknown species was yet to be named but the young archaeologists were all thoroughly enjoying this term’s Dinosaur Roar project in reception.
