Worthing mayor Alex Harman visited Chatsmore Catholic High School on Thursday to support the school in its commitment to his three chosen charities.

The non-uniform day raised £540 for the mayor’s charities, The Ashdown Centre, Worthing Mencap and Alzheimer’s Society.

Mr Harman spent several hours in school, mostly with students who gave him a tour of the school, and took part in a lively debate about local and national issues.

Stephanie Leigh, business manager, said: “The students found the debate engaging and are hopeful that they can take part in future similar debates.

“They are also looking forward to a planned visit to the Town Hall.”
