THE National Trust will be holding its annual ‘Dog Fun Day’ on Sunday, August 2.

From 10.30am to 3.30pm, visitors can come along to Woolbeding Parkland, where they can take part in the dog show, watch gun dog demonstrations, have a go at the agility trail or relax and enjoy refreshments and ales from local suppliers.

Fiona Scully, community and learning ranger at Woolbeding Countryside, said: “This is always a really popular and fun event.

“It’s great to be able to meet local people and their dogs and put on an event that is a little bit different.

“There’s also a serious side to the day too – we often have issues of sheep worrying on the South Downs, and dogs can also disturb ground nesting birds with their vulnerable nesting seasons.

“So this event is a brilliant way of working with local dog walkers and other visitors, and talking about these issues in a fun and informal way.”

This event is free, with £1 entry for the different classes – whether your pooch has the waggist tail or the best musical sit,

The day will start with a livestock parade at 10.30am, and continue through the day with classes in the dog show, puppy and obedience sessions, displays and ‘have a go’ activities.

The day will end at 3.3.0pm with the ‘dog the judge would most like to take home’ class at 3.15pm.

Further details about the event and the full programme can be found at

Parking is available at Woolbeding Parkland car park.
