Demolition of Emsworth's gas holder begins

ONE of Emsworth's oldest - and some say ugliest - landmarks is about to vanish.

The gas holder, which has dominated the skyline for more than 80 years off Palmers Road, is being demolished over the next few weeks.

Emsworth resident John Tweddell took these photos on the first removal day before any structural work was carried out.

His photos will be displayed in the Emsworth museum.
