A planning application for a soil recycling facility near Ifield is being considered by West Sussex County Council.
It has been estimated that the site, at Burlands Farm, north-east of Ifield, in Charlwood Road, would require an estimated 60 lorry movements each day.
It has been recommended for refusal by the county council’s officers.
A decision is due to be made at the planning committee meeting on October 8 .
Objections have been made by 171 interested third parties citing concerns including issues of congestion, debris and pollution.
People agreed with the concerns on the Crawley Observer Facebook page.
Andy Clark said: “In total agreement should not be allowed, too many HGVs rushing around Crawley as it is.”
