A warning has been issued after scores of Horsham residents were targeted by scammers last month.

Police said the force received more than 50 calls from people across the district in August claiming they had been targeted by hoax callers.

More than 70 residents in the Adur and Worthing area also reported being approached by fraudsters.

In some of the cases money was taken from victims, officers added.

In response Sussex Police has released the following advice: “Some of these scams did not result in money being taken from victims but we would like to remind everyone that neither your bank nor anyone from the police would ever ask for your bank details or pin numbers.”
