Do you recognise this man? He grabbed a schoolgirl from behind and pushed her to the ground in East Grinstead.

The 15-year-old girl was walking alone to Imberhorne School along a footpath between Halsford Lane and a recreation ground on Imberhorne Lane, opposite the school, at 9.10am on November 4 when she was attacked.

The man knocked her to the ground but the teenager screamed and kicked out at him and he ran off. She went home and told her mother who reported it to the police. She was unhurt but extremely shaken.

The attacker was white, around 50, about 5ft 11in and of medium build. He had brown hair.

PC Christine Davidson said: “The schoolgirl was very brave but was left very shaken by what happened.

“We don’t know what the man’s motive was but we need to speak to him to find out.

“If you recognise the face in the efit or saw or heard anything at the time but did not come forward, please contact us. We need your help.”
