Sussex Police launch new updated crime plan

It is launched against a backdrop of continuing national policing reform and the start of a new working relationship with Surrey Police.

Giles York, temporary chief constable of Sussex, said: “The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Sussex Katy Bourne has published her revised Police and Crime Plan setting the strategic direction for delivering a safer Sussex.

“My Operational Delivery Plan is our commitment to local people and our contract with the Commissioner. We will be working more closely with Surrey to ensure effective and affordable services to the public into the future. The Force is focused on cutting crime, catching criminals, protecting vulnerable people and places.

“And we must do this with honesty and integrity, with everyone who works with Sussex Police consistently displaying the highest ethical standards. My job is to make sure we deliver.”

PCC Mrs Bourne’s Police and Crime Plan is an updated version of her first plan she announced in April 2013 setting out her strategic objectives for tackling crime in the county.

Commenting on the new plan Mrs Bourne said: “The current refresh reflects my first year in office and my ambitions to continue to drive down crime and for Sussex to remain a safe place in which to live. The four priority areas that drive the Plan remain unchanged:

· Crime & Community Safety

· Victim Focus

· Public Confidence

· Value for Money

“The measures and objectives within each of the priority areas have been updated to ensure that they continue to accurately reflect the expectations of the public.

“The Plan continues to be a living document and will remain under constant review throughout my term in office.”
