A 37-year-old response officer has been taken to St Richards Hospital with a broken arm and dislocated shoulder after the marked police car she was travelling in collided with a garden wall following a collision with a black VW Golf yesterday (Wednesday July 11) evening.

The incident happened in Nyewood Lane near Stocker Road, Bognor Regis, at around 9pm.

The police car was responding to an emergency call in Nyetimber Lane and had its blue lights and sirens on.

A 53-year-old woman from Bognor Regis who was driving the black Golf was treated at the scene for shock.

Her passengers, a 25-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy, also from Bognor, were uninjured.

The 24-year-old officer who was driving the police vehicle was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Sergeant Stewart Goodwin from West Sussex Roads Policing Unit said: “We are appealing for witnesses to come forward who saw the collision or either of the cars prior to the incident to please call 101 quoting serial 1779 of 11/7.

“I’d like to thank drivers for their patience as the road was closed for around two hours whilst the casualties were attended to and the road made safe.”
