Police investigate reports of fly-tipping in Henfield area

Police say that two men have recently been seen with a flatbed truck in the Henfield and Lancing areas, looking for properties that have recently been refurbished where waste such as household items and rubble is left in the garden.

A police statement says that they then offer to remove the waste for cash, and subsequently flytip the items.

The statement adds that it is believed that they may live in the Storrington area.

PC John Burt from the Horsham Neighbourhood Policing Team said; “Please be aware that you, the homeowner, could be liable for the clean up if the waste is traced back to you. Please do not accept any offers of removal on the doorstep.

“We have seen a recent increase in fly tipping in the local area. Please report any approaches made to you for your household waste to the police, and if you notice any fly tipped waste within the district please report it to Horsham District Council.”
