Phones stolen from Worthing shop

FOUR men stole phones from a Worthing shop in broad daylight yesterday (Wednesday February 29).

At around 3.20pm police were called to the Carphone Warehouse in Montague Street, following a report of a robbery.

Police say it is understood that four men went into the shop and started to take phones from the display before running out and heading west towards the bandstand.

Witnesses describe the men as all white, all their mid-20s and of average build.

One was wearing a grey/green large hooded quilted style jacket and grey or light blue jeans; the second man had cropped dark hair and was wearing a light blue jacket and dark shoes; the third wore a grey jacket, blue jeans and a black baseball cap with a lighter coloured rim; and the fourth wore black trainers, blue jeans, a black sleeveless quilted jacket with a grey long sleeve top underneath and a black beaney hat.

DC Andy Hobden, who is investigating the robbery, said: “We would like to speak to anyone who was in Worthing town centre at around this time and may have witnessed this incident. The offenders ran from the bandstand area towards Liverpool Terrace.

“I am also interested in hearing from anyone who may have been offered a new phone for sale, for a to-good-to-be-true price without the product box or information around its origin.

“Anyone who witnessed what happened or who has information can contact me at Worthing CID on 101, extension 81157, quoting serial number 1032 of 29 February. Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
