Mystery attack in Crawley

POLICE investigating a mystery incident in Crawley town centre are appealing for any witnesses.

At about 2.15am on Saturday April 21, a 36-year old Tonbridge man was seen by a taxi driver to be suffering from head injuries in the High Street.

Emergency services were called and the man was treated for his injuries at East Surrey Hospital, Redhill.

He reported that after getting off a train at Crawley railway station in order to find a taxi to get home, he was hit over the head and had his wallet and mobile phone stolen by a group of men.

Detective Constable Julie Chambers said; “At present he cannot tell us where this happened and we are asking anyone else who was in the town centre in the early hours of that Saturday morning before last, and who saw anything suspicious, such as a group of men running, to contact us via 101 quoting serial 0138 of 21/4.
