A good samaritan who stopped to help a man on the floor nearly had his car stolen.
At 2.30pm on Thursday (October 4) in Lansdowne Road, Worthing, a man was seen lying on the ground and appeared to be in need of an ambulance.
A passing motorist stopped to offer help but the man got up and ran to the driver’s car and tried to drive it away.
He was only stopped by the fact that the driver had taken his keys with him.
The suspect then asked for the keys but after he was refused, ran away towards the seafront.
He is described as in his late 40s, of medium build and greying hair, a short beard, wearing a grey top with a zip up front, dark jeans and white trainers.
Kevin Brown Public Engagement Officer for Adur and Worthing said: “This incident left a well intentioned person shaken and upset. We are continuing to investigate the matter and would ask residents to be mindful of this style of theft. If you witnessed the incident we would like to talk to you. Please call police on 101 quoting 0926 of the 4/10.”
