Four police officers assaulted while responding to domestic incident in Hassocks

Four police officers were assaulted when responding to a domestic incident in Hassocks, Sussex Police said.

The officers were responding to the incident inside a property in Sycamore Way, Hassocks, on Saturday, March 6.

“When officers were speaking with those in attendance, two of the people present assaulted four officers,” said a police spokesman.

They added: “The officers received minor injuries.”

Police confirmed a 25-year-old man from Hassocks was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating an emergency worker and obstruct or resist constable in execution of duty.

He was released under investigation while enquiries are ongoing, they said.

A 47-year-old woman from Hassocks was also arrested on suspicion of three counts of assault by beating an emergency worker and one count of using threatening, abusive, insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

She was released on police bail until May 6.
