Eight arson incidents in the county

EIGHT relatively minor arson incidents have been reported yesterday (Tuesday) and overnight in the county by the fire and rescue service.

The first was in Guildford Road, Rustington, at around 2.30pm when a fence was set alight.

The next, at around an hour later, was at Bognor Regis pier off the Esplanade with a single storey store room on the pier partly damaged by fire, heat and smoke.

At 5.50pm a fire crew put out fires in two Wheelie Bins in Horsham Road, Broadfield.

Another bin was extenguished at around 7.40pm in Marine Place, Worthing.

And yet another was put out around 9.05pm in Norfolk Gardens, Littlehampton.

At around 10.30pm a large bale of hay was torched in a field off Church Road, East Wittering.

A stack of pallets and a garden shed were wrecked in an arson attack at around 5.15am this morning (Wednesday) in Horsham Road, Crawley.

Finally, 15 minutes later, a swing was set alight in a children’s play area in Lingfield Road, East Grinstead.
