Crawley Hospital to unveil plans for new facilities

The hospital will be hosting two open day sessions on Friday December 11 where visitors will be given a tour of the current facilities followed by a presentation on the new plans.

The plans are being spearheaded by Crawley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and will look at extend the Urgent Treatment Centre as well as provide more beds in the Clinical Assessment Unit.

A separate area for children and families will also be expanded and the proposals include a new ward with 26 beds for people who need hospital care but do not need to visit bigger hospitals such as East Surrey.

The open day sessions will run from 11am until 1pm or 1pm until 3pm and visitors will be able to question staff on the new proposals and leave their feedback.

Dr Amit Bhargava, clinical chief officer for Crawley CCG, said: “The Open Day is an opportunity for people to become involved with this exciting development and influence the way it will look. The planned improvements will help save hundreds of patients each year from travelling to hospitals much further afield.

“It is part of our commitment to provide services closer to the communities they serve.”

The plans are subject to final approval and work is set to be completed in Autumn next year.
