Natalie, 28, said: “We’ve done Rome together, there’s Paris, Edinburgh, Athens and Jamaica.

“I properly started running last May. Jack started the year before that. I started out for three marathons and Jack for six marathons and then we decided to do six and 12.

“I didn’t think I could have run a marathon. It’s now my favourite race to run, but it’s painful.”

Jack, 34, who has already run marathons this year in Bath, Dubai, South Downs and the New Forest, said: “The South Downs is meant to be the hardest in the UK, but the hardest was Bath. Some of the climbs were so steep.”

Next month they head to Athens and in December they are off to Jamaica where they will stay for a late honeymoon. They have also already booked themselves into the Rome marathon again next year.

Jack said: “I had given up on the idea of a honeymoon marathon, but then she did her first marathon in Rome and loved it.”

Natalie added: “It’s very eye-opening how different places run them. There’s a similar atmosphere everywhere, people of different languages cheering you on.”

They are trying to raise as much as possible for Breast Cancer Care and Crohns and Colitis UK.

Jack said: “His death was caused by the colitis. This year I wanted to do something more personal than last year.

“We want to get as much as we can. If we can get over £1,000 between us that would be good.”
