“Charlie was an inspiration to all the students attending and this was evident in the amount of students who queued, for quite some time, to get their books signed.”

Viv Porter, curriculum resources manager at Chatsmore, said: “The event was a great success and the opening trailer for Charlie’s new book captivated his audience straight away with lots of ‘urghs’ and ‘yuks’ and eyes covered with peeking fingers.”

Higson, a father of three boys, wrote and appeared in The Fast Show, alongside Paul Whitehouse.

His other TV works include The Harry Enfield Television Programme, Shooting Stars and Randall and Hopkirk Deceased.
