A big thank you has gone out to people in the Horsham district who helped make the 2016 Great Daffodil Appeal a big success.

The month-long appeal saw volunteers out in force across the country to encourage people to make a donation and wear the charity’s daffodil pin to help support people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones.

Funds raised from the Great Daffodil Appeal will help the 13 Marie Curie Nurses in West Sussex to continue giving care and support to people living with a terminal illness in their own homes.

Highlights of the Great Daffodil Appeal in the area included a collection at Tesco, Sainsburys and the town centre, providing more than 70 hours of volunteering to raise £3,943.

Kate Holdsworth, community fundraiser for West Sussex said: “The Great Daffodil Appeal is Marie Curie’s biggest annual fundraiser and I would like to say a great big thank you to everyone in Horsham for being so generous and kind, by either donating or by being one of our amazing volunteers.

“By supporting the appeal and funding over 197 Marie Curie nursing hours, you’re bringing care and support to people living with a terminal illness, as well as peace of mind and a chance to rest for their families.
