MERYL STREEP has given thanks for GWYNETH PALTROW after the domestic guru saved her family’s Thanksgiving meal.
The 65-year-old Oscar-winning actress revealed on US chat show Live With Kelly And Michael how her oven broke down over the American holiday. But Gwyneth - who has her own cookbook and shares her lifestyle advice on her Goop blog - came to the rescue.
Meryl declared her Thanksgiving this year a “disaster”, explaining: “My oven didn’t work. I hate my oven. I hate it. You never hate your oven more than on Thanksgiving Day when it won’t cook the turkey.”
DAVINA MCCALL has admitted she has no idea how The Jump has managed to find another batch of willing celebrity contestants after last year’s long list of injuries.
The TV presenter hosts the Channel 4 show, which sees celebrities compete in a range of winter sports, including a terrifying ski jump, and is back for a second series in the new year.
She said: “I am so excited. I got a list of all the names today. I can’t tell you because I was told I would be shot. But it’s an amazing casting.”
Davina added of the announcement that MIKE TINDALL has signed up: “One might be worried that we’ve already peaked but we haven’t. He’s just right up there with the rest of them. That is the kind of calibre we’re talking about this year. And they all want to come and injure themselves. It’s amazing.”
Asked why she thought people had got involved despite many of last year’s contestants dropping out through injury and some needing surgery, she said: “I’ve got no idea. I’m amazed and really happy because it is such a fun programme.
“I was looking at some of the ideas for the show and I thought, ‘Well maybe they’ve tamed it down a bit?’ But no, they haven’t. There is a horrific event that will be happening live that is so scary. I looked at it today and was like, ‘Oh my God, no way’.”
Westlife fans will be disappointed that KIAN EGAN has scotched reports of the boyband getting back together.
The Irish star denied the rumours that Westlife were set for a comeback, apologising to fans but saying he had no idea where the story had come from.
He tweeted: “Guys I’m sorry to say but I don’t know where these rumours are coming from about a Westlife reunion but it’s untrue. Sorry #westlifeforever.”
CAROLINE FLACK has said she can’t see how celebrities would fall victim to the love curse of Strictly Come Dancing.
The TV presenter, who partners professional dancer PASHA KOVALEV this series and is in a long-term relationship with music manager Jack Street, said that, if anything, she thought taking part in the BBC contest would make a relationship stronger.
Asked if she could see why so many contestants in the past have ended up falling for their dancing partners or leaving their other halves, she replied: “Not really.
“If you’re spending time with someone, then if you like each other you’re going to like each other. But if you’re in a good, nice place in your relationship, then I think it can only make a relationship better. Because I’m happier.”
