Children and parents at Castlewood School in Southwater have been supporting a Romanian orphanage by collecting clothes, food and stationery.

Over the past few months bags of clothing, shoes and bedding have been sent to Glodeni Orphanage in Turgu Mures, Romania in conjunction with a charity, Bags Of Support,to help the forty children and five staff who live there. A huge food parcel was sent in March.

Throughout November, the pupils from the school have brought in donations of pencils, pencil cases, paper, pens and school bags which will be taken to the orphanage for Christmas.

Karrie Fearon, orphanage co-ordinator and a parent at the school was staggered by the generosity of the children and parents.

She said: “This fantastic donation will really be welcomed by the children at the orphanage and make Christmas 2013 such a special time for them.”
