AN inspirational leader who has made positive improvements at a Sompting care home has been honoured with an award.

Scarlett MacDonald, home manager at Rectory House Care Home, in West Street, received a Leader of the Year award from Caring Homes, which owns the residential nursing home.

Laird MacKay, managing director at Caring Homes, said: “She is an inspirational leader who has led her team to achieve a range of really positive improvements that have enriched the lives of those at the home.

“Scarlett has shown a firm commitment to those in her care and to the wellbeing and effectiveness of those who work for her.”

The care home looks after elderly people who require residential nursing care in a converted period property.

Scarlett said: “I thoroughly enjoy being a manager and love the challenges of the job.

“I get real satisfaction from working with my team to create a positive environment for those we care for.”

Caring Homes was established in 1994 by registered nurse Helena Jeffery and her son Paul.
