A MAN was taken to hospital after the car he was in overturned on the A27 Shoreham flyover.
Firefighters from Shoreham, Worthing and Hove attended the crash scene on Saturday at 4.20pm but the man had been released before they arrived.
A West Sussex Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “The car overturned on the roadway. The man was taken to hospital by ambulance and scene safety was maintained by the fire crews until 5.10pm.”
An eye witness said the accident happened on the A27 eastbound, near the junction with the A283, just before the Southwick Tunnel.
“The car was completely smashed up,” she said. “There was a recovery truck, fire engines and police there and the road was down to one lane.”
Delays of ten minutes were still being reported an hour after the fire service left the scene.
