Buses replace trains between Chichester and Havant

Buses replaced trains between Chichester and Havant after a person was struck by a train.

Emergency services were called after the person was struck near Nutbourne at Funtington level crossing.

A Southern Rail spokesman said: “We can confirm the 15.55 Littlehampton to Portsmouth and Southsea service struck a person.

“We believe this happened at the Funtington level crossing.

“Services west of Chichester have been cancelled and we are looking at running replacement buses.”

Train services between Chichester and Havant were delayed and cancelled following the incident.

Southern services between London Victoria/Brighton/Littlehampton and Portsmouth and Southsea/Portsmouth Harbour/Southampton Central would be affected until at least 7pm.

Southern passengers were allowed to use South West Trains between Portsmouth and London, Great Western Railway services on reasonable routes and Stagecoach Buses on route 700 between Havant and Bognor Regis.
