An apprentice hairdresser has been named a ‘cut above the rest’ in a prestigious competition.
Bognor Regis hair stylist Jesse Courtney has been judged Apprentice of the Year in the nationwide L’Oreal contest.
Jesse, a level three apprentice at Richard Pearce Hairdressing in Aldwick, scooped the award in the final at the L’Oreal Academy in London.
Jesse won his regional heat at Chichester College and went on to beat five other finalists in London on Friday. The judging panel of celebrity hairdresser Lee Stafford and guest London stylists gave him the top accolade in the Cut and Colour category.
Richard Pearce, salon owner, said: “He’s done brilliantly to win. Jesse is a very talented stylist and he put a lot of thought and preparation into the look he created.
“The finish looked beautiful, with skilful use of colour and stunning waves.”
Jesse said he created his winning ‘Cut and Colour’ with a blend of browns and blonde colours.
He said: “I love creating the right look for the client. I wanted a soft wearable, on trend blend of colour”.
He is set to become a fully-fledged stylist at Richard Pearce Hairdressing in Aldwick Street, Aldwick early in the summer.
