The independent school, in St Julian’s Lane, was supporting the UNICEF Happy Blue Year campaign.

The Wear Something Blue to School Day was organised for Monday, January 26, and all pupils were invited to go to school wearing blue for a small donation to the charity.

Jacqui Hobson, marketing executive, said: “We would like to thank everyone who took part and helped raise a massive total of £673.”

On New Year’s Eve, the cities of London and Edinburgh joined with Unicef to help children whose lives have been turned upside down by the conflict in Syria.

More than 100,000 people came to London’s spectacular event on the River Thames with Unicef, while Edinburgh’s world-famous Hogmanay New Year’s festival welcomed 150,000 revellers.

Iconic buildings in both cities turned blue for the night in support of Unicef and as part of the celebrations, the charity asked others to donate to Unicef and make a resolution for children.

Shoreham College was among the thousands making a pledge.
