STUDENTS preparing for their production of Oliver! had no need to ‘pick a pocket or to’ when it came to paying for the set.
Excitement has been mounting at Shoreham Academy as the students reach the final stages of rehearsal for their production of the Lionel Bart musical.
Thanks to Worthing businessman Darren Crabb, they will have a professional set. He handed over a cheque for £1,500 to principal Jim Coupe to cover the cost of hiring the set for the show.
Mr Coupe said: “Darren’s generosity is fantastic. I know this will be the biggest and best show ever at Shoreham Academy.”
The show’s director, head of drama Jo Shakespeare, was thrilled when she heard the news.
“We are already rehearsing on this incredible set and the students are so excited,” she said.
Mr Crabb, who runs a senior partner practice of St James’s Place Wealth Management, said: “I’m really looking forward to opening night and I am sure it will be a great success.”
Oliver! runs at Shoreham Academy from Wednesday, April 22, to Friday, April 24, at 7.30pm daily. Tickets are available from the Academy reception desk.
