Chichester District Council said its dogs wardens have been busy with stray and unwanted dogs.

Four lurcher-types and two Staffordshire bull terriers have not been claimed in the last couple of weeks.

The council said one Staffordshire crossbreed had been left in a lay-by near Uppark and it took its wardens a week to catch it.

The Mount Noddy Animal Centre offered three of the lurchers a rescue place after their legally-required seven-day stay at the council’s kennels.

The dogs are now looking for new homes.

One lurcher and one Staffordshire bull terrier were still in the council’s kennels and need a new home or a space in rescue.

Anyone who can offer a home to one of the dogs should call Chichester District Council’s dog control on 01243 785166 between 9am and 9pm if they can offer the animals a home.
