Animal war dead to be remembered

Creatures killed or maimed in war will be remembered by a new plaque in Burgess Hill.

The tribute will be placed after the two minutes silence at the 11.11.11 commemoration at the town’s war memorial.

The plaque has been given by funeral directors P and S Gallagher to remember all the animals that served, suffered and died alongside the British, Commonwealth and Allied forces in the wars and conflicts of the 20th century.

The ceremony will be held on November 11 at the memorial near Church Walk.
