A SHOREHAM summer holiday club has received an Ofsted grading of outstanding, having vastly improved since the previous inspection, graded satisfactory.
Class of Their Own, based at Swiss Gardens Primary School in Shoreham, is an after-school care and holiday club for children aged four to 11 years.
Inspector Helen Edwards visited on July 2 and noted the children were ‘very secure in their attachments with their key person because staff are highly skilled and sensitive to the children’s individual needs’.
It was noted that, as a result, children were very confident, engaged and motivated in all areas of their play and learning.
The report, which was published on Thursday, also noted the staff showed ‘an outstanding commitment to constantly driving improvement’ and had ‘an excellent understanding of how children of different ages and levels of development learn through play’.
Detailed planning and stimulating activities ensured all children made excellent progress.
Tanya Petherick, director of Class of Their Own commented: “I am absolutely delighted that Ofsted have recognised the huge amount of work that the Class of Their Own team displays every single day to ensuring that the children attending our clubs have a great time.
“The entire team works extremely hard to deliver the highest level of play opportunities, care and support every day.
“Some settings are worried about Ofsted visits, but we look forward to them as we are confident that what we do every day is great.
“We get fantastic feedback from the children and are really looking forward to the start of the summer holidays so we our huge range of activities can swing into action.”
The company runs similar clubs in 14 locations from Shoreham to Rottingdean. The holiday club at Swiss Gardens is one of six it is opening this summer.
