EDge - the postgraduate dance company of London Contemporary Dance School - bring EDge 2011 to the University of Chichester on Thursday, April 7 at 7.30pm.
Venue spokesman Andy Roberts said: “Each year a new generation of the most promising contemporary dancers come together as EDge to perform commissions by some of Europe’s most exciting and critically-acclaimed young choreographers. “EDge offers London Contemporary Dance School postgraduate performers the opportunity to develop their skills as dance artists in an intensely-creative environment. Led by new artistic director Jeanne Yasko, EDge’s 2011 tour showcases performances by a strong and diverse ensemble of five men and seven women, all trained at the world’s most notable dance conservatoires.
“The programme features new full-length pieces by leading international artists Ben Duke (UK), Jorge Crecis (Spain) and Martin Forsberg (Sweden) alongside other works. Each choreographer brings their own unique approach to create contemporary dance filled with high-level energy and technical excellence that pushes the performers to their limits and leaves you on the edge of your seat.”
Andy added: “EDge’s 12 dancers transform tender moments, quirky gestures and high-level energy into an inspiring evening of dance. With innovative costumes and surprising choreography, these dancers will take your view of dance and turn it on its head.”
The show takes place at The ShowRoom, Bishop Otter Campus, College Lane, University of Chichester PO19 6PE. Tickets £10/£6 concs from Chichester Festival Theatre (www.cft.org.uk or 01243 781312).
