Children across the area swapped school uniforms for shades of red, white and blue on April 29, 2011, as the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton was celebrated with street parties and special lunches.

Union Flags fluttered in the breeze as pupils took part in a variety of activities and there was a carnival atmosphere as excited children enjoyed their celebrations in glorious sunshine, weather fit for a king and queen. There were road closures for street parties and a great community atmosphere as food was shared and people danced.
