The new room at Care UK’s Skylark House care home, on St Marks Lane also features football table and archery board.

The idea of opening a games room came about after residents started sharing their memories of playing ping pong and other games with their grandchildren, the home said. After consulting residents on which items they’d like to see, team members got busy creating a fun space.

Many residents helped design the room by choosing decorations that were meaningful to them. Two residents and football fans contributed flags from their favourite teams, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, while a California state flag was put up for another resident who was has some great memories from there.

Dorota Woloszyn, home manager at Skylark House, added: “We are thrilled to launch our games room for residents to enjoy. Every resident has helped design different elements of the room, so there really is something for everyone.

“Here at Skylark House, we want residents to live active and fulfilling lives, by reconnecting with old hobbies or developing new ones. Converting a room into a games room is the perfect way to encourage residents to reminisce while enjoying a game of tennis table or two.

“Now we’re looking forward to setting up a games tournament and creating many happy memories in our new room!”
