School celebrates Horsham girl’s stamp success

After beating around a quarter of a million entries Molly Robson, a pupil at Leechpool Primary School in Horsham, met the Prince of Wales at Clarence House at the end of last month where she was presented with a framed copy of her winning entry.

The stamp, featuring Father Christmas, was rolled out across the UK on November 5.

Molly also received £1,000 of vouchers and won £1,000 for her school.

Headteacher Nicola Davenport said the money would go towards a huge ceramic piece of art comprising drawings and paintings from every pupil at the school.

She added: “We are all very proud of Molly and have been celebrating her success in school.

“She has been excited about the competition and was very proud to be a finalist.

“The announcement as the competition winner is a fantastic achievement for her.

“Everyone at Leechpool Primary sends her their congratulations.”

Royal Mail chief executive officer Moya Greene told the County Times: “This wonderful image captures perfectly what Christmas means to many people throughout the UK.

“We were overwhelmed that the competition received more than 240,000 entries and Molly now follows in the footsteps of some highly acclaimed children’s designers and illustrators who have designed Royal Mail’s Christmas Stamps in the past .”
