From tree climbing to tree surgery

Two Horsham friends have taken their childhood hobby of climbing trees and turned it into a successful business.

After months of hard graft, Josh Steere and Thomas Cave are finally seeing their passion turn into a career.

“Tom and I have been good friends since a young age, sharing a keen interest in outdoor activities, climbing was our main focal point and nothing has changed,” said Josh, co-founder of Total Tree Care.

The duo studied arboriculture at Merrist Wood College in Guildford.

After working for number of tree surgery companies the pair picked up a number of private jobs last summer.

“This sparked the idea for us to go it on our own,” continued Josh. “But how to find the funding?”

They stumbled across a business development company which lends money and advice to new ventures.

Recently Total Tree Care joined forces with a business expert and their fighting passion earned them funding necessary for the company to grow.

Josh said: “We can now start buying our own plant machinery; truck, chipper, large chainsaws etc.

“We both share a real passion for providing quality tree work, customer satisfaction being paramount.

“We want to make our stamp on the tree surgery industry.”

The company is now officially up and running.

Josh added: “We may be a new start up business, however between us we have a total of just over 10 years’ experience in the tree surgery industry.”
