Rolls-Royce Motor Cars '“ pensions dispute continues

A consultative ballot from BMW was rejected by Unite employees by 56.6 per cent. So far the dispute has seen four walkouts at all four BMW-owned plants, including Goodwood. Three further 24-hour strikes planned in May were suspended.

A Rolls-Royce spokesman said: “We are disappointed that Unite members have voted by an overall majority of 57 per cent to 43 per cent to reject the company’s best offer designed to support employees during the proposed move to its new UK pension arrangements.

“We are now considering the implications of the ballot result and we will be meeting with the union in due course to discuss next steps.”

Unite national officer for BMW, Fred Hanna, said: “Unite shop stewards will be meeting to discuss the result of the consultative ballot and the next steps in the dispute.”
