RAIL STRIKE: RMT announce strike action next month

Members of the RMT union are to go on strike next month after rejecting a new pay offer.

The first 24-hour strike is set to be held on June 4 with a second 48-hour strike planned for June 9, both of which will start at 5pm.

Staff were set to walk out earlier this week but unions suspended the action after Network Rail offered members a new deal.

Union reps met with the rail service provider on Thursday to discuss the new offer but it was rejected, leading to announcement of a fresh round of strikes.
