Since Horsham District Council launched its Tea at Two campaign, eateries have signed up to offer special promotions for customers wanting to enjoy a quieter bite to eat when towns and villages are not so busy.

A spokesman said: “Recognising that for some people it may still be a little daunting to start getting out and about, the council has worked with local cafes and restaurants to launch the new campaign which lots of local businesses are now taking part in, offering a range of attractive tea time promotions from two o’clock each afternoon.”

Commenting on the ‘Tea at Two’ initiative, Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Horsham Town Centre Cllr Peter Burgess said: “This is a great idea which helps both residents and visitors enjoy a more sedate afternoon tea if they are a still a little nervous about stepping out, and also helps improve business for our local hospitality outlets, as they are coming out of lockdown.”

Cllr Paul Clarke, Cabinet Member for the Local Economy and Parking added: “I am really pleased that so many cafes and restaurants across the whole District have chosen to take part in ‘Tea at Two’ and that it is already benefiting their business levels. For those who have not signed up for this scheme there is still time to do so.”

Look out for businesses displaying Tea at Two posters and window stickers to let customers know about their special offers after two o’clock each day.

As well as being open with COVID-safe measures in place for dine-in customers, Horsham District cafes are open for takeaways too.
