Stagecoach appoints new engineering boss for Worthing bus fleet

A man who joined Stagecoach as an apprentice has now been appointed engineering manager at the Worthing bus depot.

The bus operator said Alec Bradley was a perfect example of how people can grow in the business.

Alec joined Stagecoach in 2005 and completed his apprenticeship at the Chichester depot.

He became a shift fitter there after he qualified and was then appointed assistant engineering manager at Chichester in 2012.

Alec moved in 2015 to become assistant engineering manager at Winchester and has now returned to the south coast as the new engineering boss at the Worthing bus depot.

Richard Smith, regional engineering director for Stagecoach, said: “Our people are fundamental to ensuring we keep our customers connected, so I am extremely pleased to congratulate Alec on his latest promotion to engineering manager at Worthing.

“We’re committed to ensuring that we provide real opportunities for staff development and Alec is a great example of how our people can grow within the business, and as such I am delighted to see him further his career and development with us.”

Alec will be responsible for the maintenance of the Worthing fleet of 69 buses, with a staff of 11 engineers, including two apprentices and 13 cleaning staff. He will be supported by assistant engineering manager Barry Cook.

The Worthing bus fleet is used on the town’s network, as well as services that reach Littlehampton, Midhurst, Horsham and Brighton.
