Business partners Steve Squires, Brad Harding and Josh Street were all set to hold an open day at The Game Shed, at 2 High Street, on March 28 but lockdown was enforced just as they had finished getting everything ready.

As restrictions lifted, they were able to open the shop in early July and now, finally, they can hold their open day, welcoming people in to see the set up.

Steve said: “The Game Shed specialises in gaming parties for children between the ages of seven and 16. There are eight Xboxes and eight TV screens, so all eight guests are able to interact with each other playing computer games.

“We had the idea after going to a kids birthday party and realising that in today’s world, the majority of kids and young adults want to play computer games, so why not combine the two together?

“We decided to run with it and now we have the shop. We’re just inviting people to come along and see what we’re doing, and try some of the gaming consoles out.”

Appointments can be booked for Saturday, September 5, between 9am and 6pm. These open day slots will allow 20 minutes’ free gaming and the opportunity to save 10 per cent off a party for four to eight people.

Steve said: “The idea is to have a maximum of eight people all playing against each other in games such as Fortnite, Minecraft and FIFA. There are comfy bean bags for players to sit on and game.”

The pure gaming package costs £160 and allows people to book online to visit The Game Shed to play games uninterrupted for two hours, while the full package is designed for birthday parties and will include party bags and a cake.

There is also an option to book open gaming at £10 per hour, visiting as an individual to join other gamers.
