People of all ages are being welcomed to join Tara Woodford, from Woodlands Way, Southwater at her Scrumulicious Cooking School which is run once a month from London Road Methodist Church

“I teach anyone really from toddlers including parent to well - there’s no limit really,” explained the 37-year-old who works as a recruitment consultant in Crawley.

“I was very fortunate a couple of years ago before I became pregnant to get asked to teach cupcake making and I’ve done wedding cakes but I’m not a chef, I’m a home cook and I just like to experiment.”

Tara’s first class, ‘Little Bakers’ for ages around seven plus, was held on May 4 and sold out. The children got to make red velvet cupcakes, decorate boxes to take home and received recipe cards.

“The next class is being held for teenage cooks on June 1. I’m teaching how to make a lasagne and a grasshopper mousse - a white chocolate egg-free mousse so it suits people with egg intolerances which is really simple and easy to do,” added Tara.

“On September 14 I will do my pre-uni course which I think is probably the most important as lots of teenagers go off to university with little to no skills on how to cook.”

Tara also does private tuition at home, baking parties, sells children’s bakeware and is open to any recommendations for cooking school classes not currently covered.

“Eventually I’d like to run it as a more full-time thing, have my own premises and I have dreams to take it a lot further.”
