An insight into the lives of the Petra Bedouin

A new art and history group is set to meet again on Thursday, April 17.

Joan Ward, who spent several years living with the Petra Bedouin in Jordan, will give a fascinating lecture at The Bedford Pub, Station Road.

The talk is titled ‘Living with Arabs: Nine Years with the Petra Bedouin’ and starts at 7pm.

Joan’s story begins optimistically but then describes the realities of such a life and ultimately explains having to resist aspects of it.

Through anecdote and personal experience, this talk aims to give an insight into what it is like to live with Islam, violence and gender imbalance.

The Bedford Culture Club meets on the third Thursday of every month.

Tickets cost £10. To book contact Emilie Myers on The Bedford Culture Club Facebook page.

You can also call 01403 211962 or text 07771 821 741.

Alternatively, people can email [email protected].
