Spokesman Chris Youngman said: “Founded in Slinfold as a village band in 1978, Slinfold Concert Band is now in its 36th year. In that time it has travelled across the south-east of England, entertaining music lovers from London to Brighton, from Eastbourne to Bournemouth, and occasionally beyond.

“The band has traditionally performed a spring concert in the Horsham area, and its venue this year is the Millais School. As well as making its debut at this venue, the band is also breaking with tradition by playing on a Sunday afternoon, with a 2.30pm start time.

“We know that for many people, Saturday and Sunday evenings are times to be enjoyed at home with friends and family, so we decided on a time which would allow our audience to enjoy a concert before returning to a Sunday evening at home.

“Under the baton of musical director Christopher Newport, the band will, as usual, perform a varied repertoire of popular and classical pieces, with music from shows and films, tunes from the big band era, and much else, all complemented by solos, duets and maybe a trio from various talented band members.”

Tickets are £8 for adults, £1 for people aged 18 and under and are available from the band on 01483 416240, from Slinfold Village Store and from Horsham Art Shop in Blackbridge Lane, Horsham. More information: www.slinfoldconcertband.org.
